Jodie. I don't believe that many of the celebrities are really tweeting. Don't you think that most of these are people imitating them? Is the best way to let people in the library or school know that your library is on Twitter to e-mail everyone ...

Hi, Scott. It was nice seeing you at TLA. I wish we'd had a little more time to talk. So, you like passionflower vines? Will you come take some of the many that will soon be overtaking my garden? I didn't listen to the warnings about their aggressiveness. They're such pretty bullies.

Scott, how are things going with you? I hope you are moving with much more agility and much less pain. This TennShare project has been enlightening and I need to spend more time with these new technologies. Have a great day!

Thanks, James. I thought I was the only one who was frustrated with IPODS!
Pandora is a wonderful service and I wish I could get it on my car radio.
Instead of being given what SIRIUS or XM wants you to hear, you could choose what you want to hear from a tremendous library of music.

Hey Scott! You asked about downloading from Pandora - you can use Pandora to purchase the music you're enjoying by clicking on the song title in the little song-icon-window. You might have to disable your popup blocker temporarily to get the song's Pandora information page. From there, you can click on buttons on the left to buy through iTunes or Amazon.

If you prefer a free version, try http://seeqpod.com or http://skreemr.com - or borrow the CD from your local public library. Just beware of Copyright law...

If you really want to try out a radical solution, try to overcome our librarianly desire to collect, and instead use your time with the technology to continue to discover new music you enjoy! (Personally, I'm not there yet :) )

You also asked about iPods and how difficult they seem to use. I've had a similar experience. I tend to get frustrated with consumer technology when I try to apply my understanding of the underlying technology to interfaces that are designed for, well, Consumers. iPods are in part designed to make Apple a lot of money by training Consumers to Consume More. They're also not designed to help folks manage collections of abstracted 1s and 0s clumped together as mp3 files, but instead designed to help folks manage their music collections by training them to think about their music the way Apple wants them to think about it - which will lead folks to Consume More.

Yikes! Apologies for the anti-consumerist diatribe!

I forwarded the edition to your JSCC email address. If that is not correct and/or you don't receive it, let me know.

American Libraries Direct is the free electronic newsletter from ALA. It comes out every Wednesday. I actually get it twice because it is forwarded via the TLA listserv, too.

I am forwarding this week's edition to your email address. There are several sections with links to articles. The Kindle article is located under the Publishing heading.

Take care.

Hi, Scott -

You probably saw this article on the Kindle in American Libraries Direct, but I wanted to be sure. I found the range of comments interesting.

Take care,

Mona
