Hello, I'm eager learn and play.
March 30

Hey everybody, I'm James - Everybody say "Hi, James!"

I was one of the 2008 Tenn-Share Learn and Discover team (along with Kyle and Jenny and Pam and
Susan and Tricia and Sue), and I'll be happy to help you through any glitches you have along the way - and I'd love to hear about your favorite Web sites. Just please be my friend :)

FYI, I was a Government Information Librarian at the Tennessee State Library and Archives, now the Systems Librarian at the Nashville Public Library, I'm a gadget-fiend, and I desperately need to learn how to type faster.

Librarians and Hackers

Check out this story posted on LISNews: A Librarian at the H.O.P.E (Hackers on the Planet Earth) Conference

In addition to pointing out overlap between concerns common to hackers and we library folks - like copyright and cool copyright "infringement" monitoring tools like YouTomb, the article also gives us some instruction on how to reach out to our communities with techn… Continue

James,

I found the answer to the question posed this week: "Which Tennessee author reviewed the book on Nanotechnology." The answer is Annelle R. Huggins, Memphis State University Libraries. Her review was in Library Journal.

I searched and searched through the power search method, but I couldn't zero in. Then I tried Novelist and entered the terms to describe the plot, and the answer popped up.

I don't want to spoil everyone else's adventure by advertising the answer, so I am reporting it directly to you.

James,
I was wondering if, since you created this Ning social network, you could tell me how to create one for my son's boy scout troop. I tried, but now I can't get back into it. It's Boy Scout Troop 150.

James,
Good monday morning. I just wanted to let you know (as you may have already noticed) that I did not finish all the assignments. What I am going to tell you is not an excuse why it was not done but you maybe understand why it assignments for not finished by me. First of all I had and have still no clue how to do the assignments that you were trying to help me with. I have been in a car accident last December and have been seeing one doctor after another and it is not going to stop soon. I have lost a lot of time at work due to the accident and I am trying to do what I need to do (also the TENN SHARE assignments) but I did not succeed. I hope that you understand. Thanks, Anneke.

Mona & I were wondering if there will be an opportunity for a informal Ning get-together at the Data Conference. Even if it's just dinner in downtown, it would be nice to have a chance to meet all of our on-line Friends f2f. Just curious.
P.S. Your new avatar kind of looks like Dr. Venture, but with a dark goatee rather than red. Does that mean you are a mad scientist?

FYI- there's a vegetarian supper club starting in East Nashville, once a month. There's 10 people to share the meal and as far as I can tell the potluck is the only obligation for members. You interested? The first get-together is Sunday, Sept. 7th.

James.

a. Can material on Pandora.com be downloaded to an mp3 player?
b. Why do I have trouble with things like IPods? They seem so difficult to use?

Thanks.

I'm currently a reference clerk at Linebaugh Public Library in Murfreesboro, and will hopefully go to graduate school in 2009 to pursue my MLIS.
