A month or so ago, I decided to start a wiki for my staff to share training materials with them and to communicate about working hours, etc. I haven't had a lot of time to work on it, but we are off to a good start. You can view our wiki at http:/...

I've visited Google Maps before, but I never took much time with it. I started working on option 1 but was surprised to find I couldn't view a map for my area. It said to zoom out, but I still couldn't get it to come up. A street view of the addre...

I started out by looking at the Inquotes and Audio Indexing Labs. These could be useful if you needed to know exactly what a politician said. It would be nice if they included quotes from other prominent people. Next, I checked out Google City To...

Dinah, Congratulations on your graduation! And on your lovely page; great pictures: I too would like to know where they were taken as I was out in Colorado this summer and assume yours are from the west also. One of these days I'll find time - and knowledge - to post some of my pictures!

Hey Dinah! How's everything in Lexington? I really should stop by the next time I drive through going to Parsons. Where exactly in Lexington are you located?

Our library email has been down but is now working. What a mess without email! What did we do before we had it? The ocean was nice--wish I were there now!

Johnson City is a small city and traffic, though seemingly busy, is nothing compared to the larger cities. So I ride the main roads. They are wider, usually have two lanes, often have a shoulder, and there are no untied dogs running about. The medium level traffic is fine with me. I get much more nervous on side roads that have no shoulder. There are lots of them here and some of them are described as highways.... ligter traffic but 40-50mph drivers with no shoulder. Its nerve racking!

To be honest sometimes i feel safer in light traffic. 99% of the people are safe and reasonable. Of course, in twelve miles there must be 0ne or two thousand cars passing me. 1% of drivers who are not careful could mean 10-20 bad drivers pass me. Yikes!

I'm glad you bike as well. Do you ride recreationally or do you also commute?

I am the Director/Head Librarian of the Lexington-Henderson County Everett Horn Public Library located in Lexington, TN. I will be graduating on August 9 from the University of Alabama with my MLIS. One of my greatest joys in life is cuddling and playing with my new grandson who will be one year old on June 30, 2008. I haven't had any spare time for the past three years, but in a few weeks, I plan to enjoy cooking, biking, and of course, reading. I can hardly wait!

Yesterday

Yesterday was a perfect day. The weather was gorgeous, and my family members were close. We slept late; then, I cooked a full breakfast that included sausage, biscuits, hash browns, and eggs. After a short rest, we biked about 6 miles. We rested again, and then played with the grandson a few hours before grilling hamburgers and polish sausage. Ahhh.....

My last class

Last night was the last night of the last class. I graduate from University of Alabama on August 9. The feeling is unbelievable. I have always been a person that loved to learn. Very few people in my family go to college. My dad, Wayne Bowman, was Valedictorian of his class, but he did not go on to college. However, I do have an uncle that many of you may know, Dr. Harry Bowman. He worked in the academic circle for many years. Part of that time was in Memphis, part of it was in Georgia.

Anyhow,… Continue
