About Me:

I am halfway through my graduate program at the UTK. Spring 2010, I plan to student teach and take all of those fun exams so that I can be a school librarian. I kind of stumbled upon the distance ed MLS program at UTK while trying to answer the question: What do I want to do when my daughter starts Kindergarten? I have a love for books, and have accumulated quite a personal library since I have 3 children.

I am married to Duane, and I am mom to Nathanael, Joshua, and Rachel. They are pictured on the Read poster in my photo gallery.

I look forward to learning about all the great web tools!

At 6:35pm on August 6, 2009, Linda Martin said…: I was intrigued by your own personal Dewey Decimal System and wondered how it worked. Tryed it for myself and came up with hilarious results. Since I haven't worked with Dewey in such a long time(we use Library of Congress at UTM), I still not sure what all goes into this classification system. Of course I had to try different numbers to see how it changed. Anyways, it looks "very impressive." Thanks for putting this on your page for us to share.

I'm so sorry I missed this date! I was out of town and this is the first time I've been at my computer. The only dates I have free between now and the beginning of school (Aug 13) is Tues. Aug. 11 and Wed. Aug 12. Take a look at those dates and let me know if we can squeeze in a meeting.

A waiver is good for one year. You can only get a waiver for 2 different years. I'm not sure about the student teaching. I taught for 10 years before I took the librarianship. I think it would depend on how desperate they are.

Please let me know if I can help you in any way to finish your SIS program or in your job search. I have had practicum students here in my library for other MLS programs and have had UTKSIS students getting some practical hours too. If you would like to come for a visit, please let me know.
