I was reading through the postings on LMNet today and someone had put this link in there for the top 15 recommended web apps for students and faculty. I thought it might be fun to look over and see how many we have already discovered here on TennShare. http://mashable.com/2009/09/03/web-apps-students/

First, I tried out Google Docs as this is one area of Google that I had wanted to explore. I see this as a means of storing documents so that they can be accessed from any computer. It's also a great way to back up documents from your hard drive in a place that will be secure. When my harddrive crashed several years ago, I lost some documents because I hadn't backed them up in any way.

I then tried out TinyURL as I have often seen it referred to in other posts. I actually used it to make this entry because the Google Docs address was very long (https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=writely&pa...). After using TinyURL, it became (http://tinyurl.com/mnqaht).

Finally, I tried out Grooveshark. It has a good variety of music to choose from & it will give you the titles of similar songs.

Of course, if you use Google Docs as a back-up service, that's cool. Only remember to make a copy for your hard drive as well. Always remember LOCKSS (Lots of copies keeps stuff safe).
