I love Google Maps. It's a great tool for finding locations in a hurry. I used it to locate a hotel address when I visited St. Louis in May. It sure did come in handy that day!
I used Google Maps today to map out a walking route in my neighborhood (to calculate the distance). I like having the ability to move around the route line to match the way I want to go, rather than the shortest driving distance. When mapping out longer trips, I've found that moving the lines around can get messy sometimes, , and I've had to start all over from scratch. It's still a cool feature, though!
I hope you're sharing this with others that are going to the reunion! This is is great! The pictures really added a lot and I would think your former classmates would find this really useful.
I went to Google maps (because Mapquest is always wrong!) and plotted a course to Gatlinburg for the ARSL Conference next Thursday!!!! Anyone else going?
I'm not going to ARSL Debbie, but I just wanted to say that I've had multiple bad experiences with MapQuest usually at the detailed end of the trip. That's part of the reason I was so tickled to find the LOLcat pic that's posted with this week's lesson :)
I have heard that many of the on-line map services have to occasionally throw in a curveball to prevent copyright infringement trouble from the Map Makers. I don't know if that's actually true, though.
I tried "Find a World Brewery" not because it was the first on the list, but I love beer! Using the Google Map Mashups was fun--also did the night lights, too. What a combo! I recommend you try it....there are so many fun ones like "walk a straight line around the world", etc. You can see how my mind works with association: beer, night, walking a straight line (I didn't state "blue line").
