So it took me a while to actually sit down and do these last couple of weeks, even with the extra “catch-up” time.

I’d like to pretend that I was off in search of local vegetables in my quest to become a “locavore” like this article from The Tennessean.

Eventually, I did find and examine pictures of the Clinton High School desegregation like this and this and this.

Dr. Mustard and the toothbrush were interesting, but I’m trying to figure out how they got all these birds here without the help of a mystery movie mastermind?

Thanks for the tour of Tennessee resources!

I went to an in-service this summer and heard about TN History for Kids. It’s been so helpful for me and I do think that the elementary level, it may be a little easier to use, but adding these to my list of recommend Tennessee resources can’t hurt. It’s been very useful especially considering that I know more about the Old Dominion than the Volunteer state.
That's a lot of turkeys! Wow!
Whoa. That is a lot of turkeys. Why are captions so unhelpful? I mean, I need some info about why all those birds were there. That would be a caption!

Thanks for the heads up about TN History for Kids. I'll have to read through and see if I know as much as a 5th grader should. I hope so!
Thanks for the TN History for Kids link. That will be useful.
I also came up with the Cleaning teeth during class period as the Dr. Mustard photo. While I was doing the first exercise, I learned a new word--locavore. Very interesting concept. The second exercise led me to a very thought provoking photo about the Memphis Garbage Strike. These were great exercises.
Hi. Glad you enjoyed those lessons. We have a lot of stuff online in the state, eh?
This is my final answer...Dr. Mustard in the Schoolhouse with the toothbrush....

If it's your final answer, I'd have to say you've won $10,000.

I hope you will settle for the sweet mp3 player at the end of the program!
Uh, I'd rather have $10,000!
All 3 are so full that I'd love to drop everything and explore. Life is too short, days are too short and my energy is too short. oh well
someday I will finish these exercises and have to work again!
1. TEL: Community gardens bumper crop benefits Food Bank
Commercial Appeal, The (Memphis, TN) - May 7, 2008
Author: Jennifer Biggs

The Memphis Area Master Gardeners run the Plant a Row for the Hungry Program at the Shelby County Community Gardens. Produce is donated to the Memphis Food Bank and other organizations serving the hungry. Sounds like a great program! These people spend hours raising food for others.

2. Volunteer Voices: Title: Civil rights marchers picket Cotton Carnival
Picture from: Memphis Civil Rights Photograph Collection
Photographer : Ernest C Withers, 1922-
Date Created: 1960 - 1967
Contributing Institution: Memphis Public Library

This document is a picture of a picketer carrying a sign that reads "Why spend your money at a Segregationist Second-Rate Carnival."

It was definitely a different world.

3. TeVA. The same picture as everyone else . #6 in Dr. Mustard's album. Cleaning teeth during class period. As Catalogers tend to be perfectionists, I spent considerable time looking through Dr. Mustard's album for a picture of the Dr. himself and the toothbrush. These pictures remind me of some of the old photo albums my family has.
Sorry the third clue tripped you up. I saw Dr. Mustard photo collection and immediately thought of Clue. Great job on this one!
