I was actually just joking with Debbie, but then after her comment back, I did a little research. The best I can determine non-magical Quidditch is a far cry from the "real" thing.
See, Brendon, this just shows how much of geeks we are.
I was thinking last night that they could easily use some sort of jet pack technology, but remote controls wouldn't work so well, since the temptation to cheat may be too high. Quidditch is a highly competitive sport- definitely comparable to "football" in Europe.
Then I had ended the meditation with the pondering of whether they would still use broomsticks. It would lose a bit of the romance if they didn't, but how practical are broomsticks with jet packs? You are right; hover boards would probably work out better. :)
It's true about the comparision. But, hey, any new science is seen as magic at first.
Santa was quite considerate to Max in responding to his letter. I never got a letter back from the jolly old man. Probably because many people are still "waiting on their hover cars" and he's busy researching.
This has been a great exercise in prompting me to learn about the wealth of resources available. I would definitely like it continue in some format. We need to be able to share our experiences and expertise so that we may improve library services to our community.
Send a group email everyone just as a reminder; or elect James Staub president for life; or invite people to join other social networks where you might be a member; or survey us in about a year to see how we have applied this "stuff,"; or assume that what we have learned has taken and we will move forward on our own.
This was very worthwhile and I am glad I am a part of it. It's great to see the participation from across the state. Best wishes to everyone!
