Each person involved needs to make it a point to keep in touch and keep our communication with each other going. We can do it. We have all the time in the world. It's been great fun seeing what others are interested in and meeting new people. Everyone stay in touch.
I have learned so very much from all of you this summer; sharing this way is such a very, very good thing! I hope also we could keep this alive and growing. What better way to illustrate our name of "Tenn-Share"? I cannot think of a better way to spend a few minutes from time to time than looking through all the great ideas posted here and those that will be posted in the future. We have created a great treasure over the past few weeks. Thanks to all of you.
Thank you to everyone for the guidance and comradery. This has been a great platform for sharing and learning which in turn helps us better serve our students, faculty and staff. I hope there will be a way to continue sharing!
1. Use the space to share experiences of our incorporating this summer's "discoveries" with students/patrons.
2. Use the space to promote and/or discuss current issues in Tennessee librarianship, i.e. education, collaboration, literacy, legislation,etc.
3. Use the space as a way to stay connected to the new friendships and the resources.
It's been a fantastic experience for a newly fledged library professional such as myself. I hope to meet each of you, if not at Datafest or the TENN-SHARE Fall Conference, then down the line.
Don't hesitate to contact or facebook (Mona Batchelor) me. Take care, all.
I especially like suggestion #2. Librarians in Tennessee need a forum that allows easy communication and collaboration. A forum that recognizes the varying needs of academic versus public, small versus large, and urban versus rural would be helpful.
Thanks, Livy. I feel that one is extremely important. I've sensed a true, professional camaraderie here on Ning, and I would like to see that "spirit of the game" continue.
This has been such a fun experience. I have enjoyed each and every project that we have completed. I have learned how to put pics on the net, import pics, other social networkss, more uses for Google, about avatars, etc., etc. I think this will be wonderful to help us keep updated concerning how the students, patrons, faculty and staff use the internet.
I think it will be nice to stay in touch with one another using ning. Don't know what I'd would have done without Mona and James hard work. They were so encouraging to everyone. Ways to continue (?):
1. staying in touch with people you got to know these weeks;
2. put on a blog or forum any new wbsites that one might come across worth sharing;
3. help one another out if we can;
4. try to keep on top of ways to assist students, patrons, faculty and staff as with all areas of the library, we have to stay current to best meet our customers needs.
If I can think of anything else, I'll be sure to write down the ideas. It's been fun!
Debora, you are too kind! Anything I did that may have assisted you was purely my pleasure. I like to think that we, as librarians, are in a service industry. Helping people is just all in a day's work.
I really enjoyed this as well. I was hoping that we would be keeping this site as a library community posting site kind of thing. Im pretty good with the sites I know and use a lot but I was introduced to tons over the past few weeks that Ive already added into my regular group. If nothing else, we could keep our blogs going about different sites, information, tools, etc that we come across as we find them. For example...how did i ever find any books before I learned about google books?? Craziness!! Everybody, take care and hope to see you around :)
