I went to Pandora.com. I typed in "Beastie Boys." In a matter of seconds, I was listening to MCA's "Bodhisattva Vow" from Ill Communication. Then, it played an old A Tribe Called Quest tune. Kind of weird since I once saw Tribe open up for Beastie Boys!

What played for all of you?
I went to Pandora.com and typed in 'Radar Love' by the Golden Earrings (Dutch group) and heard the song being performed by another group. I also typed in Venus by Shocking Blue (Dutch group) but could not listen to the song.
Hooray for Songza! Finally I get to hear Nina Simone's "Just in Time," which wasn't included in the Before Sunset soundtrack. Thank you for a fabulous musical moment.
Yeah, it can be handy for tracking down some more rare versions not available by conventional means. The player is cool, too.
Thanks, Kyle, for something new!

I've been purchasing & downloading mp3s from Wal-Mart for several years, and my son downloads to his iTouch via iTunes, but pandora.com (and any other listening sites) was uncharted territory for me and I'm hooked!

I searched for one of my favorite artists. All of the songs offered up after the initial selection from my chosen artist are groups or individuals that I listen to regularly, as well. Man, am I predictable, or what?

Additionally, I enjoyed learning about the Music Genome Project and have registered in order to establish my personal settings.

Thanks again for another great Learn & Discover task!

Mona
Hi Cindy, MGP is pandora's professional analysis of the individual songs based upon hundreds of qualities. As I understand it, that analysis is the basis for the subsequent selection choices they make for the listener.

Their explanation is much more extensive than mine and is located at this link.

Take care. Mona
Last.fm has been great in finding songs that I haven't heard in awhile. Even when they don't have an mp3 they sometimes have links to Youtube videos of the song. It has helped us find out what else is on a CD before we decide to buy or not. (We still buy CDs in our house.)
My wife and I love Pandora, though I sometimes am confused at some of the selections. We have several stations we listen to, including a couple of their pre-selected music genre stations.
I use YouTube as a "Must listen to that song right now" venue. Almost everything I've looked up has either had an official vid or fanvid. In fact, I'm on a Semisonic kick right now, tracing the songs as they appear on the "Related Videos" list. I'll listen and go do something while the song plays.
After reading your reply I went to Last.fm and I really enjoyed finding some of the artist I haven't heard in while to listen to. I have to watch my time when I am doing this, because I could stay on the compyter for a very long time.
Last fm is a great site!
You're not the only one, Cindy! I'm headed to do the complete task now. Sorry, Kyle!
Are we SUPPOSE to have this much fun on a Monday?
Cylinder archive is hilarious...check my blog!
I download from itunes weekly...they have free stuff too.
I love lastfm and making a list to "play" at home.
